My whole family are in the computer field so I was pressured to do Computer Science and minor in Life Sciences. I used to want to be a doctor but after third year of Life Sciences I realized I am not a book person. I am interested in doing data analysis so extracting data from database and researching. After three years of working since I graduated from university and constantly trying to look for new jobs. I have been thinking of doing an accounting designation this Fall because I want to be Healthcare Analyst. I am interested in finding ways to improve the hospital spending so Financial Analyst, I am also interested in improving the wait time in the emergency room. This is my employment history: 1.5 years as a Quality Assurance Analyst where I test my company's health information software. Now I have working in a government but not health care related as a Quality Assurance Officer but my future is uncertain with this job since I started out covering for someone who went for maturity leave they wanted me to stay so they created this new position for me which is different from the old one which was clerical. Is basically getting ISO accreditation for lab so I deal with documents a lot instead of numbers which is what I prefer. I recently finished a certificate in Business Analyst in a university. Basically does anyone have any suggestion like should I pursue accounting. Can I still apply my computer programming skills with accounting and still work in the health care environment. My grades at in the C+ range so Master's degree in Health Administration is not and plus I need to start out with admin work which my parents will be more angry that's why I chose accounting but my parents are still not happy with it. I have computers because I don't like constantly having to learn new software, accounting is transferable across different industries and is a professional designation so I have job security even during recession. I had thought of health informatics, but I want to walk away from computers. I hate having to constantly deal with job interviews where oh we will only hire those who have used this software. Plus I am not interested in computers. I hate deal with people's technical issues.... Read More »
