Open Question: Windows 7 black screen?

31 July 2010, 12:23 pm

I recently got a brand new Dell Studio 1458 because a dell technician messed up my computer when they were trying to fix it. So the new computer came in, it uses windows 7, and I downloaded Super AntiSpyware, Spybot, Malwarebytes Anti-malware, Eusing free registry cleaner, and the computer itself came with McAfee Security Center. I use Google Chrome as my main browser, but sometimes it just randomly freezes up on a page, the bottom of the screen blinks, and then the whole screen goes black. I've had this happen to me like 5-6 times, and I only got this computer the day before yesterday. One time the screen recovered, and there was a message on the bottom about a drive (or disk) not working. It was gone too quickly and I didn't see it. Twice when I reopened Google Chrome after I had to emergency shut down my computer and open it it had the message "Your preferences file is corrupt or invalid. Google Chrome is unable to recover your settings." So on the next installation the folder USER DATA is created again with fresh preference file. Hope you understand the logic. This will fix the problem permanently but you might not be able to delete the old folder DELETE or XYZ or the old preference file inside it " I couldn't find the file that I was supposed to rename under my name-PC, and the Default User file is locked so that even the administrator can't access it. I've ran my antispywares/virus/malware and registry scans under safe mode before, it didn't help.... Read More »
